Just as its name suggests - this is the all around 'go to' amp, North American style. From real pretty cleans to nice bluesy riffs all the way to singing leads - all controlled by the push of a footswitch. It's designed to be versatile enough to twang out country right up to hard rock. Two completely separate channels with their own tone controls and a footswitchable gain boost on the Hi-gain channel gives you everything you need.
It's for the Rocker who needs simplicity in Distortion in a "solid rock" sound that is strong, easily crossing over into a modern territory, and reliably point-to-point wired with "TONE" - all close to a mass-produced price range. It is a 6L6 amp with a MORRIS flavour. The Clean? channel is slightly de-gained from the Grind channel. Check out the versatility of this amp over on the Sounds page.
It's made to just plug in and play !! But takes pedals well too. I can think of quite a few famous players who did this. Don't underestimate this amp though, 'cause it can produce enough 'preamp' gain even at lower volumes to reach into the "shredder" realm - if you need it.
This is for the Rocker who needs more versatility to foot switch into a great Clean channel with single coils - but hit that channel with a high output humbucker and you can have a great Crunch channel when turned up . It has a sound that is strong, easily crossing over into a modern territory, and reliably point-to-point wired with "TONE" - all close to a mass-produced price range. It has the same Grind Channel as the Gold version but with two separate Masters for getting above for leads. Plus it gets extra preamp gain when you click into the Lead Master. Just like its single channel brother it's made to just plug in and play !! But takes pedals well too. Don't underestimate this amp though, 'cause it can produce enough 'preamp' gain even at lower volumes to reach into the "shredder" realm - if you need it.
This amp has a seperate volume and master control for each channel although it shares the same tone controls.
Where the Rockgrinder is an amp with Morris/North American flavour, the Perplex'd is just as the name suggests - not sure which British sound it's after - 'cause it kind of does all of them. It captures the classic flavours but not their limitations. Again, like all my amps it can sound totally different with one guitar as opposed to another - and of course with one guitarist playing it compared to another. Just listen to the sound clips. But it will still keep the overall English sound.
The CLEAN? channel is so marked because unless you have weaker single coil pickups and possibly turned down on your guitar volume control it doesn't play perfectly clean. This channel is 'slightly' tamed compared with the second set of volume/master controls but never 'really' plays clean like a completely isolated separate channel without a master attached.
WARNING - This amp is NOT for the faint of heart !! This amp is fairly similar to the Rockgrinder - but - instead of Grind in the distortion character it has CRUNCH. This amps distortion is 'very' bitey, articulate and defined !! Yet - it doesn't have that shrillness that makes your ears bleed when cranked - like most amps this articulate on the bottom strings have. There is no Presence control - it 'would' be over the top then.
The choice for no second Master volume is because this is the type of amp that players who use the volume control on their guitar will choose. What do you want for ALL THIS TONE at this PRICE RANGE. ha ha. Of course - an EQ pedal and chorus or phaser comes to mind for additions.
As with ALL my Master volume amps - you do NOT need to crank it LOUD to get all this tone. Check out the sound clips on this one - they were done at a speaking volume with NO attenuators.
